About

My Story

Born in California and raised in Indiana, I lived the best of both worlds. I was fortunate to be able to experience both the city and countryside. Attending a small school in a town called Putnam County there wasn't much to do every day. When I was twelve one of my biggest role models and the kindest hearted person; my grandfather passed away from leukemia. While this was a hard time in my life I knew that I wasn't going to let it hold me back from achieving great things. He always told me to be kind to others and to always lend a helping hand if someone needed it. Not only was I going to prove to myself, but also my grandfather- I knew I would make him proud. With having so much to offer and not knowing what use to put it too I was in a slump for the longest time. I knew I had a passion to help others. I was involved in many service projects. I was also active in sports, specifically track and cross country. I loved to train and watch my health and fitness change over the years. I had my mind set on going to graduate school to become a physical therapist, but with the experiences that I have encountered during my undergraduate years, I knew personal training was the fit for me.

Exercise Science

Personal Training

Exercise Science focuses on the links between health, fitness, and most importantly exercise. I've had a passion for exercising and physical activity since I was little and my life has solely focused on me being active all the time. With love and passion of helping others I am now able to use my knowledge to help lead others toward a healthier life- specifically personal training.

Career Goals
(Personal Training)

For many years I had the mindset of pursing a career such as Physical Therapy. With knowledge and experiences that I have gained over the course of the last year, I now realize that that was not my path. I knew that I loved helping others become better versions of themselves physically but not trough that route. It was through my internship with INShape that I knew Personal Training was something more I was passionate about.

INShape

Personal Training Internship

My experience through the INShape internship has made me more passionate about my future career and goals. Through this internship, I learned more about who I am as a person and how I was able to apply my knowledge and skills to help another individual meet their personal goals. This experience was at times challenging, but most importantly was very rewarding. My client always maintained a very positive attitude, gave me positive feedback, and was overall a fun client to work with. This internship gave one on one experience with a client and this was the most enjoyable personal training experience I have had!

Although Camp Brosius looked quite different when I attended, the values and mission that were taught were still the same.
During this leadership class, I was able to find my top 5 strengths as a leader.
I exemplified these 5 strengths- consistency, empathy, achiever, realtor, and adaptability.
I work best in fast paced environment. I empathize with others to understand people’s needs. I value consistency in my work and I work hard for what I want. That being said I am also able to adapt to my environmental to meet people’s expectations.

I have had the opportunity to complete service learning projects through my major. That being said, I completed one called a “Motor Activity Clinic”, here I worked with a young individual who had an intelectual disability. This child was very charismatic and energetic. My goal was to help improve his motor skills-specifically with sports. He loved playing sports in school and was determined to achieve his goals. While challenging at times, he was very patient to learn new movements and/or improve the skills he already knew how to do. Having already worked with individuals in sports with intellectual or physical disabilities, I knew how to work well with this student. This project gave me more perspective on how difficult at times it can be for an individual with a disability and learn to not take the things we are able to accomplish- for granted.

Ever since I was in high school I would volunteer for this non-profit organization in my county I was a camp counselor since I was a freshman, then fast forward to summer of 2021 I was the Camp Coordinator. Sadly, I am now pursuing new goals that will consume most of my time and someone will have to fill this role. Nonetheless, this opportunity has made me who I am today and why I have a passion for helping others. Below is the organization’s mission statement....Putnam County Kids Count's mission is to help each child reach their full potential by advocating a life of virtue and character. Our goal is to empower all of the children of Putnam County to be successful in school, community and become lifelong learners.
